The Statistics Division of FAO is pleased to announce the launching of a film on the use of Food and Agriculture Statistics in support of Development. This film was produced in collaboration with the Consortium PARIS21 hosted by OECD. The film is intended to raise the awareness of Policy Makers in Developing Countries and their Development Partners on the importance of reliable statistics on food and agriculture for effective poverty alleviation and food security strategies. The film stresses the need to consider the production of Food and Agriculture Statistics as a strategic component of National Food and Agricultural Policies and consequently, to allocate adequate resources to National Food and Agriculture Statistics Systems for sustainable data production. The video features the Director General of FAO, several Heads of State and Government as well as some other heads of agencies. The film is available both in English and French. Thematic clips are also available on the following subjects: FAOSTAT, CountrySTAT, the Census of Agriculture and National Strategies for the Development of Statistics.
