KENYA
In the years 2000 and 2001 "INSECTICIDES" data do not include "Botanical products and Biologicals" because the percentage of active ingredients is not available for these products.
MALAWI
Data for the period 1997-2000 might have been reported in Formulated Products without specific indication. Data on "OTHER PESTICIDES NES" refer to biopesticides and fumigants.
MALI

MAURITANIA
Data refer to quantity of pesticides bought by the state whereas they exclude pesticides for the fight against locusts and pesticides used by private.

RWANDA
Data are based on the inventory with local importers and sellers. Rodenticides are not registered; however, quantities used are minimal (as other methods are used to kill rats); local seeds are hardly treated whereas imported seeds are treated in the country of origin.
TANZANIA
Data reported are not the actual consumption, as some quantities were imported into the country without importation permits and therefore not recorded.
TUNISIA
2009 data refer to Imports expressed in Formulated Products.
BAHAMAS
Data refer to Imports expressed in Formulated Products. "FUNGICIDES & BACTERICIDES" data include fungicide seed treatments. "OTHER PESTICIDES" data include mineral oils.
CANADA
Data refer to pesticide sales for use in the agricultural sector. Data are obtained from different sources as follows: (a) 1990 and 1994 data - FAO Annual questionnaires returned by the Commercial Chemical Evaluation Branch, Environment Canada; (b) 2006 data - OECD AgroEnvironmental indicators 2008, Secretariat estimates based on CropLife Canada sales data in dollar value, http://www.oecd.org/dataoecd/56/23/41255459.xls; (c) 2008 data - Pest Control Products, Sales Report 2007-2008 http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/cps-spc/pubs/pest/_corp-plan/sales-2007-2008-ventes/index-eng.php. As a result, a strict data comparison is not feasible. Also, please note that according to the “Pest Control Products Sales Report 2007-2008”, a product may have a number of different uses on the label. As the sales reporting does not collect data on the relative amount of a product used for a specific label use, the data may not necessarily be separated into only one product type. This means that there may be overlap between the product type groupings; thus these numbers should not be summed to obtain total quantities sold in Canada in 2008, in fact an over- reporting would occur.
COSTA RICA
Data refer to Imports. Up to the year 1997 data are expressed in formulated products. Starting in the year 1998 data are expressed in active ingredients.

Source of 2007 data is the OECD AgroEnvironmental indicators 2008. Data refer to sales (from June to June) for use in agriculture from Agcarm, which represents over 80% of total annual sales.

In 2000 the pesticide consumption questionnaire was revised to obtain information on two new categories: "Seed Treatments - Fungicides" and "Seed Treatment - Insecticides". As a consequence, the category "Fungicides, Bactericides and Seed Treatment" has changed to include only "Fungicides and Bactericides".
