More detailed trade data, starting in 1961, is in Detailed Trade data in TradeSTAT, whereas trade by origin and destination, starting in 1986 is available in the detailed trade matrix. Furthermore, as the commodity coding in FAOSTAT is now revised from the old FAOSTAT and the commodity groupings shown may be different or no longer in use, users should not try to simply continue time series data from old datasets (and tables) they may have from the past. Users should download new data and the relevant series.

In 2005 the value of agricultural exports accounted for around US$669 billion. This was an 8% increase on a year earlier in nominal terms and a 6% increase in constant prices. This level of agricultural exports amounted to a 23 % increase over the 2000 level of exports (in constant price terms). Inter alia, with continuing growth if food processing and its value added, the unit value of agricultural exports continues to rise as export prices increase at a greater rate than the volume of agricultural goods produced.
